One night while visiting at John's house in
Cottonwood, Arizona, two noteworthy events occurred. The first was as
we gathered around John's desk to view treasures that had recently come
into his care. He presented several large natural crystals, a large,
clear quartz ball, and a tip feather from a Bald Eagle - all of which
was on loan from the Navajo Shaman that John was studying with at the
time. Among others present were Tweeter and Geo, who were Yavapai and Apache
Indians, respectively. The several quartz objects were examined
without incident, but when the Eagle's feather was passed I noticed
that Tweeter and Geo both handled it in a ritualized fashion; first holding
the feather with one hand and preening it with the other and then
holding it in front of them with the thumb and forefinger of both
hands held together. As they held the feather they became very still.
When the feather came to me, T held it out but as I reached for it he
withdrew it and, pointing at the tip, said, "That's a funny shape. Why
do you think that someone trimmed it that way?" I answered that it
wasn't trimmed that way, it grew that way as it was a wing tip
feather. Whereupon Tweeter gave me the feather as he and Geo watched intently.
I handled the feather as I had seen them do and when I held it in both
hands a bolt of energy leapt from the Earth, through me, to the
feather. The rush of energy was incredibly intense and I was unable to
move my arms or breath. Understanding that I would have to breath
soon, I focused on pushing with my right side and pulling with my left
side. With a concentrated, sustained effort I was able to separate my
hands and as I did the person next to me who was half turned away saw
the movement and, without looking, took the feather from my hand and
returned it to John. I looked back at Tweeter and Geo who nodded at me with the
same serious expressions that they had when the handed me the feather.
Several minutes later, when I had recovered my composure, I asked John
for the story of the feather. He said that the feather was one of the
five Medicine Feathers carried by Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce Tribe.
Later that same night we
had spread through the kitchen and living room and John was in the front
corner of the living room demonstrating quartz crystal energy clearing
on a fellow. As John would bring the crystal off the individual he would
shake it behind him to break the energy. As he did this it was if
someone had hit, not only the wall next to me, but all of the succeeding
walls on through the house. This was not a subtle effect at all. When it
happened a second time every one in the room noticed it. We experimented
a third time, just to make sure that it wasn't some other effect and then
started looking at other techniques to rid the crystal of the
accumulated energy before proceeding. |
