| Often a town will arise as a trading center
amidst a conflux of fertile farmland and easy access to transportation. As the
town grows into a city it overruns the primary farmland and chokes the
transportation links. A model of cancer exists which compares the abnormal
tissue growth to the etiolating of plants growing without light. This can serve
as a model of urban sprawl if it is understood that nature is the source of
energy being sought. The suburbs are the tendrils seeking contact with a
nourishing substrate. The inflowing power grid attempts to feed this need for
nutrition with a variety of electrically powered substitutes such as television.
Where the sky ends and the earth begins springs
an incredible carpet of life that is the living surface of the planet. From this
sky-earth interface life reaches up to the Sun and down through the soil. This
matrix is a delicately woven fabric of life on the planet; a fabric that can be
progressively rent. The nurturing of this phenomena is a proper study and craft
of humanity - not to be dominated and exploited, but stewarded and held in
reverence as a teacher of universal truths. Some may see this a religion that
would hold nature as god. This we do not dismiss lightly; however, we would
rather see nature as a mentor and wise councilor. Properly understood and
stewarded the Earth might yield an incredible abundance and humanity, freed from
scarcity and fear, might proceed to become the Earth's most magnificent
flowering, nurtured from the seeds of the Stars.
The Earth is a living being and able to heal
itself soon after the wounding stops. It has been humans thinking that they know
how to fix the problem that has caused many of the problems. Thus a useful
activity for humans is the healing of themselves. Then the remainder will be much
easier to accomplish. |
