The garden's design
originates in a synthesis of a walking fung shui, inspiration, and
dreams about the place. The inspiration for the meditation circle came while
resting at sunset and forthwith the site was surveyed by
moonlight. The next morning I went out with coffee to
evaluate the location in the light of day and just as I looked up at
the site after looking down to walk the steps down from the kitchen door a large
red-tailed hawk approached the circle from the north and flying over the circle
the hawk noticed it. Grabbing air with it's
wings it hesitated motionless looking
down at the circle and then glancing at me before extending it's wings to catch the
air to slide down the adjoining hill at grass top level. I
thought of this as an acceptance and stepped into the center of
the circle sipping the coffee. What happened next was not so much
strange at the moment; but for a while afterwards there was
strangeness to it. It was as if a rectangular piece of the blue
sky detached and fell before me. That I continued to see it as it
fell into the earth is somewhat strange and so was that it
contained the image of a face. It was like the picture from a TV
screen but it interpenetrated the physical vision in a transparent
trans-dimensional way. The face was quite striking and somehow
gave a clown-like impression; nevertheless, I did not recognize
it. I drew a sketch of the face as I could recall it as a way of
examining and understanding it. It was sometime later that I
recognized it as the face as a bottle-nosed dolphin viewed from
the front.
Later the circle was
finished and we held a series of meditations involving four
people. At the first session an individual who previously had the
distinction of being thumped in the stomach by JoJo the dolphin described seeing
precisely the same visual impression as I had seen: that of the
blue rectangle falling from the sky into the earth
although he was able to recognize the face as that of a dolphin
immediately. |
